Finally a song from the new album of Therion, the first song revealed is "Temple Of New Jerusalem", is the best thing they made since the release of Gothic Kaballah and the band changes. It made me eager to hear more of the album
As you might have notice this blog plays around the progressive word, The main objective is to help on the promotion of metal and trying to change the perspective metal=noise. However, Expect the unexpected. Mainly focussed on progressive metal or rock, but easily going to catch some good stuff to bands with only some progressive elements. And sometimes also going totally out of the progressive genre and of metal. Help you discovering what has been done of value around the world in my opinion.

Katatonia - Viva Emptiness(2003)
Noticed recently that I had too few post sof that amazing band called
Katatonia, some considered to be prog others not, I don't care I love
their sound. I will show you two songs, first "Ghost of The Sun" it is
violently appeasing for the soul
The second one is "Criminals", live it sounds even better, you can feel yourself in the song and once again the changes of cadence are amazing

Therion - Les Fleurs du Mal(2012)
Let's be plain and clear? for me the worst album of Therion so that I will only focus two songs, one because is indeed a good version and the second because of an important message in the video. Both songs are versions of other songs.
1st song I will share is Poupée de cire, poupée de son, here Lori Lewis is simply amazing is she the one who makes this song work.
the 2nd song I will share is Initials B.B. the video is really polemic as you may see in the comments on this youtube videos, most of people didn't get the message it wanted to pass. join the dots, BB(Briggite Bardot), Nazi behaving robots, Woman showing her boobs willingly, sadomasochism, it talks about a rotten society where hate sells better than good music and woman say themselves to be free when they are controlled by the fashion world and society on how to behave. Props to Johanna Najla the voice on this song
Well with this we close this mega episode about Therion, at least until the new album.

Therion - Sitra Ahra(2010)
After Gothic kaballah a big part of the band left, basically only some resident singers and Christofer Johnsson remain. This album was never claimed by the critics cause let's be honest, is way less interesting than their other works.
You will see that on the number of musics I am going to share.
Let's start with the first song of the album the title track, here we still have the remanence of old Therion, the lyrical voice the sound almost prophetic, the video could be better though. This song misled several people who thought this would still be the way Therion would go.
The next song I am showing you is the third one of the album, Unguentum Sabbati, no their most interesting songs but still good to hear, with Snowy Shaw being important here as well as Lori Lewis amazing voice.
The next song is one of the best of the album, Land of Canaan once again tastes like old Therion, is one of the longest ones and is with me in my mp3 since the release of the album almost. Instrumentally is maybe the best one in this album the arabic/middle eastern sounds are so good in here.
The next song is the fifth one of the album Hellequin, not much to say on this one but I like to show you songs with different nuances.
Follows the song 2012: Return of the Feathered Serpent, Therion always exploit the Mayan prophecies, this song is about the 2012 one.
After we have the 3rd part of Kali Yuga which I started in Sirius B. album, this part is different but is maybe the only music with some other level of mysticism in it.
The last song I am sharing with you is Children of the Stone: After the Inquisition, the thing I want to focus here is the choir in the chorus it is amazing for me.
I still manage to share several songs of this album I don't dislike Thommas Vikstrom voice but i prefer Mats one, only one still to go now from Therion.

Therion - Gothic Kabbalah(2007) - from gothic metal with a progressive conclusion
Finally time for "The" Therion album that brought me to this amazing band "Gothic Kabbalah", Any of the following musics will enter immediately in your mind they need time. With no further ado let's advance to this album songs
The first song of the album is "Der Mitternachtslöwe" a germanic title translating by Lion of Midnight, it was one of the first songs I felt in love with, it is almost a prophetic song. Seems like the Runes Are being read to us, it feels so good, it ends so amazingly as it starts
The second song of the album is the homonymous track, "Gothic Kabbalah", for some reason this track in youtube has the Lemuria cover.... well. This is not so epic as the one before, but still a pretty solid song to hear, it has a more epic approach to it. the segments between parts are some of my favourites from Therion
The third song of the album is "Perennial Sophia", Snowy Shaw is simply amazing in here with his deep vocals, is an iconic song, and live sounds even more amazingly. It grows in your mind so violently that it will never leave your mind. It end once again with a prophetic feeling surrounded by an enormous magical veil. Once again shout out for Jonny A Magnis Maxima youtube channel.
The 4th song is "Wisdom and the cage" in this song once again with snowy in highlight we have the difference between a deep strong voice of Snowy and the melodic female voice. It incorporates so much the Gothic theme, the darkness around it. This song makes me cry as I recall amazing moments I lived hearing this one song. The part containing the female voice and the instrumental part after it around the middle of the song make me cry every time from how beautiful it is.
The 5th song of the album is The one which deserved the official video, "Son of the Staves of Time", the Videos is really week, but the song might be the first to attach to your mind. It's a good one to start until the others are getting their way. The female vocals at beginning gives an extra something to the song, and the return with the acute sound of the instruments fit so well. Here it is the time of Mats Leven to shine.
The next song I am talking about is 8th of the album, I could be here all day talking about every song on the album, but I decided to talk and focus more on those songs I enjoy the most in this amazing album, The next song I am talking about is "Close Up the Streams". This song has a phantasmagoric sound to it which I love in the female vocals, and a mystic voice in Snowy Shaw's voice. It results soooo well in my opinion
Time for my favourite ones, the 9th song of the album is called "Wand of The Abaris", it follows what is talked about in "An Arrow From the Sun" from Lemuria, the first part of the song is already really good with the melody fitting the vocals of a prophetic tone once again, with the female voice giving it the mystic sound from ancient times, and the guitar crying. But the second part is what makes it superb, the vocals there seem like a prophecy happening the truth revealing and the chords on it bring it to a simply majestic sonority, I miss more words to show how much I love this song. Even the chorus which normally are the most commercial part of many songs fits so well. along side with The Siren of the Woods my favourite song.
The 10th song for a long time I didn't like it, has it is more of a tale than of a song, "Three Treasures", but with time that part started to catch me more and more, and now the last part of the song is my ringtone on my Android. That instrumental part he last 50 minutes more or less are other simply amazing piece of musical art. I started as is obviously shown to love this track, and I think you might like it too. I will give you the full song, and then, a cut I made only of the instrumental final part. Enjoy
Instrumental part:
Approaching in fast pace from the end of the album, we have the 13th song Chains of Minerva. This is one of the most calm ones and in more of a terrain song in between all I already shown, this one is to show you how even the simpler songs sound so good
The 14th song of the album is "The Falling Stone" if you were missing a more paced song with fast lyrics? here you go. I think it is one of the fastest songs in pace from therion, more Symphony than melody in it.
To finish an amazing album nothing less than a mythical song, "Adulruna Rediviva", It is a progressive song basically, several paces with a touch of classical music. It is such an important song, that some years after the album been released(6 exactly) and after some events I will talk about on the next album they decided to record a video for this song, and I must say despite not having some of the original singers showing in the video it is really interesting the idea for the video.
Well with this another Therion album is presented, only two more to go. see you soon.

Impure Wilhelmina - Radiation (2017)
Today I need to stop a bit the Therion chariot cause I have to talk to you about a new found band for me, one of those bands that of new as nothing, they are around since 1996 but only some days ago I found about it. The songs of the album seem like arising from the black aura of Katatonia, if you like me are a Katatonia fan you will be enthusiastic about this album, even if you are not, together with that dark aura you have a vocals that really has resemblance with Oddleif Stensland from Communic, and to finish this analysis they really go drink some big influences to Doom Metal and around. If you enjoy complex songs this is your beach.
Enjoy. I will share some of the songs I heard about, the first one I heard was "Great Falls Beyond Death" and it enters in your mind really fast
The second one "Bones and Heart" is not so amazing but is also really cool
The "We Need A New Sun" really made me glad, it starts really slowly but when it bursts it made me remember another band I really enjoy... Barren Earth. It's heavy instrumentally and that I adore.
To finalize I leave you with the song "Sacred Fire"
See you next week

Therion - Sirius B(2004)
Toay We are going to talk about the 2nd part of the double album which came out in 2004, Sirius B, for a long time I listened much more Lemuria than Sirius B, but suddenly I started hearing one song and another from Sirius B and it became amazing
The first song of the Album is Blood of Kingu, I would say it starts in an mazing way with speed fused with an angelic chorus and choir. The voice of Mats Leven is what you hear, is easy to notice his voice. The transition between his voice and the choir is sooo good, like a summoning.
The second song is Son of the Sun, this song send us back to Egipt it is hardly ever missed in a live show also, is iconic. The female voice chosen has strength but melody alltogether. The men voices fit well in the choir. Keeps the same speed heard before, and the storyis really nice for thos ewho don't know of it, Akhenaton son of Amenhotep III
The third song of them album is dedicated or is about Rasputin, it is called Khlysty Evangelist I love the russian like first part, like a monk chant, prepares the ambience for the second part, it is one of the darkest songs from Therion that I know, is also one of my all time favourites from Therion. Once again Mats leven voice is recognizable and I really enjoy it, adds the dark effect I love.
The 4th song of the album is called Dark Venus Persephone, those are onw of those songs you might want to hear to isolate yourself from the worls with sound, is so amazing, the vocals send you to a story directly and the male voces that appeared help you feel the godly sound you just feel embraced. instrumentally is one of my favourite tracks everything fits
The 5th and 6th songs are related they are about Kali Yuga, it is divided in two parts, bot are amazing the second part has part of the first in chorus but moves forward. The feeling is way more darker than generally in this album, more than in Dark Venus Persephone for example, I wanted to find the two songs seperated, but I can't find, in fac ti found the second part separated but not the first one, so I'm posting two parts together. The song makes you search for what Kali yuga is. It is a heavy and fast song, still has the melody bits, but some might not enjoy and other will love it. It has to have that dark feeling
The 7th song of the album is Called The Wondrous world of Punt, for me is like Siren of The woods is one of those songs a bit like Dark Venus Persephone that you wand to allow your mind to slipaway and fly free. I s one of the most peaceful songs on teh album
The last song I am showing you is the 9th one and it is called Call of Dagon, we once again increase the pace a bit but not too much, Is like an evocation this one.
Still 3 more albums to go concerning Therion, can come right next week or I can post something else in between

Therion - Lemuria(2004)
Today we are going to talk about one side of the double album Therion released in 2004, this side is called Lemuria, Is one masterpiece if you enjoy metal with melody fused with orchestration, more than ever orchestration is present. The album i maybe from Therion the one that easily enters in your mind and you start singing it from top to bottom easily
The first song I'm showing you is one of the stronger songs ever from them, with harsh vocals, not so seen many times in last albums. it's called "Typhon"
The second song I'm showing you is called "Uthark Runa", not being one of my favourite ones has a wonderful melody and the vocals fit really well, for some reason was never one of my favourite songs. It's one of the songs where you can hear Mats Leven in its splendour
I was about to not talk about this one, but how could I do that? this songs musically is amazing. And you may notice later it has some connection in construction with Kali yuga. It's called "Three Ships of Berik", here both songs together, in fact they are the third and 4th songs of the album
The next one I'm talking about is the title track, Lemuria. you know when You start hearing a band and are afraid to move from the album you first had? in fear the rest of their work is not so good? well the album that brought me to Therion is yet to be presented, but one day I checked last.fm to heck what were other people hearing form Therion and Lemuria was and I think still is on of their most famous songs. It starts easy and calm and remains amazing all those years passed. It explains the story of Lemuria and you can feel the mystical power in it. Big part of the song seems like we are in the sea in a ship.
The next song is somehow different, "Quetzalcoatl", has a Spanish part in it that I think fits amazingly, it talks about Quetzalcoatl The Master of the sun. It also spins around the 2012 prophecy. The melody behind all the song is amazing and gives us the mystic feeling the song wants to pass
The next song is called Dreams of Swedenborg it seems it was a Scientist who had a vision and embraced that vision. I like this song It's like we are really enjoying is visions. For me the best part on this song is the prophetic singing with the engagement in the choirs.Everything is so magical from the clocky beat though the music, the fitting of more harsh and acute voices. It basically invites us to let our mind travel though the music space.
The next song is amazing in every aspect, "An Arrow From The Sun" the first time we will talk about Abaris, it has different vocals in it, and lyrics are so abysmal, Check the video for more Info on Abaris.
The last song I'm talking about is called Abraxas, once again not one of my favourites, I enjoy the female voice with the sound behind it, but lacks something that the other songs have. Still is pretty solid.

Russkaja - Kosmopoliturbo(2017)
Today something a little different I can't avoid not posting something about for too long, this band is called Russkaja but they are from Austria. The "Russian" influence is mainly because of the vocalist being from Georgia, coudn't find info about the other integrants.
Two songs for now, the first one is called Hey road, the lyrics are so true and with a ska movement all the way, I love it htey call it Ska metal... is it possible?
The second song is Alive, seems like a joke but sounds so good and the hip-hop mix in the middle is also kinda nice.
I'm becoming addicted to this band.

I'm driving down this road, so long
Life is just the journey we take
I'm driving down this road, so long
To a brand new day
Wont'cha come my way
Yes we learnt, to forget
We got lost just to find another path
We refuse to conform
Yes we did everything just to escape the norm
You can try, but you can't hide from fate

Therion - Secret of the Runes(2001)
Another album of Therion Follows, now is time to talk about Secret of The Runes, which was released in October, 2001
I talked about it in the last Therion post, Cause Summernight City appears on this album. Well, the first song I'm showing you form this album is called "Midgard", once again the choir is amazing, is starts in a more strong way and folows to a more melodic part, Not being considered prog, it surely has wonderful transitions as Therion already showed us. I really enjoy this one a lot. Someone said on the commentary's it is Odin's Lullaby, it surely could be.
The second one I am showing you is called "Asgard", this whole album I guess spins around Nordic and Northern Europe Mythology. Is a much stronger one in cadence than Midgard, but the chorus is also something amazing. Appreciate this masterpiece on it's maximum. The instrumental towards the end is simply Superb.
The third song I will share with you from this album is called "Schwarzalbenheim (Gold Der Unterwelt)" Another piece of art. Starts so smoothly and then it explodes without being ever too much, everything fits so well. Amazing transitions, mainly after this part:
The 4th song I'm showing you is called "Nifelheim" Not so amazing as the other songs, but also pretty nice, And to show you some more operatic songs in this album.
The last song of 13 that I'm showing you form this album, is called "Vanaheim". This is with
Schwarzalbenheim my favourite song, from the lyrics to the voices to the fitting instrumentation. starts with an amazing intro, then the strength with which the voice enters fits so well. Helps understanding some points of Nordic Mythology. I really enjoy this one, here a video from the amazing channel of Jonny A Magnis Maxima
Well with Secret of The Runes We are way past half of their works I am talking about, Next week I am still thinking between a double album or both separately, wait for it.

Schwarzalbenheims GewürmBut even after that transition from the beat to the choir is so envolvent. The string from 4.15 towards the end are simply outstanding in my opinion. Seems like they are crying to this wonderful tune.
Schmiedet solch schimmerndes Gold
Der Götter Glorie gestaltend
Aus der Erde Geäder

Circus Maximus - 1st Chapter(2005) - A prog metal band I have been forgetting
Today I'm making a small pause between Therion's Discography cause I suddenly remembered a band I never talked about for some reason. This album 1st Chapter from the Norwegian band Circus Maximus is hard to divide it by songs, makes us remember in some bits of Dream Theatre. It basically tells us bit by bit a story of someone who lost faith in life and questions it and the event will give him hope.
The first song of the album is called "Sin", and is the beginning of the adventure
The second song is Alive, I think in this song he remembers his lover and the times spent whit his girlfriend, wife from the cell he is in
The third song is epic, He is brought to fight in the arena as a gladiator for is live and fear controls him, the song is called "Glory of the Empire"
There is an instrumental song I will not post, but hear it, the 5th song reveals after he is freed from where he was after winning in the arena, the song "Silence from Angels Above" where he questions his choices, and the time to confront who he left behind
The next song is "Why am I here?" he continues questioning what he done in the arena, and in his life that brought him to that moment
Then comes "The Prophecy" where he realises he is part of something bigger he found his reason to live after all that happened
The longest song of the album is also where everything is solved and where he finally closes the first chapter and starts a new one, the song is called precisely "1st Chapter"
There is a last song on the album but I will not post it, hear the full album from first to last song so you can embrace the story on it's full
I guess he understands his happy life before all that happened was an utopia, We understood the message that life is that, doubts questioning and moments of unforeseen wins you never expected when everything seemed darkness all around.
The first song of the album is called "Sin", and is the beginning of the adventure
"All My life I have been a Drifter
Going the paths that had no endingThis tells what the main character was passing and what bring him to imprisonment (to be like a slave)
With satan on my shoulder
I was an angles from the underground
(...)
What you have taken away from me
Can never come back, I cry, all night"
The second song is Alive, I think in this song he remembers his lover and the times spent whit his girlfriend, wife from the cell he is in
When you feel alive, and there's nothing you can do
When you can't explain, is there a reason why I'm living?
When you feel alive, and there's nothing you can do
We must struggle towards this together
Together we will make it through alive...
The third song is epic, He is brought to fight in the arena as a gladiator for is live and fear controls him, the song is called "Glory of the Empire"
Now the time has come
Will I win or fall?
Victory is on my mind
Could it ever be what I have found?
Now the gates are open wide
I must enter the arena
It will bring me one step closer to my revenge
There is an instrumental song I will not post, but hear it, the 5th song reveals after he is freed from where he was after winning in the arena, the song "Silence from Angels Above" where he questions his choices, and the time to confront who he left behind
The time has come to face the end
This is a necessary thing
Cause I will hold your hand an say
Will you forgive me
Long ago I made a choice
That I thought would make a difference
And lead me back on track
The next song is "Why am I here?" he continues questioning what he done in the arena, and in his life that brought him to that moment
It was only a dream. His body senses relief
He washes of the night from his face
Followed by a look in the mirror
Something doesn't feel right here
Who is this man I see?
Somehow he can't recognize himself
Then comes "The Prophecy" where he realises he is part of something bigger he found his reason to live after all that happened
I woke up in the middle of the night
Outside the rain was covered in red
Thunder and lightning covers the sky
I'm all alone in this forsaken place
What have I done to deserve a life like this
Am I the key? Have I unlocked the mystery to life?
Innocence is the secret to reveal the prophecy
A new beginning predicted by the pages in the sand
The longest song of the album is also where everything is solved and where he finally closes the first chapter and starts a new one, the song is called precisely "1st Chapter"
I've reached the point of no return
And the path that lies behind me I will never see again
From the day that I left home I had one thing on my mind
To find the hidden answer in the sand
Feels like someone's watching over me
My faith is in their hands
Voices surround me... they show me the way
The journey ends back to paradise
Beyond the mountains far away
I've returned to where the sun always shine
...to my Grand Utopia
There is a last song on the album but I will not post it, hear the full album from first to last song so you can embrace the story on it's full
I guess he understands his happy life before all that happened was an utopia, We understood the message that life is that, doubts questioning and moments of unforeseen wins you never expected when everything seemed darkness all around.

Therion - Vovin (1998)
Now I'll talk to you about the other album condered with Theli Therion's best albums, Vovin. It is undeniable the quality of theli and vovin, and it marked a change of direciton form Therion first works, from there their sound followed the wave.
This albums has some iconic songs that every Therion must hear, starting by the song opening the album "Rise of Sodom and Gomorrah", When it starts fans love it and start singing along.
The second one I'm showing you works amazingly live, even better than the studio version it is called "Birth of Venus Illegitima", where choirs are more important than ever in Therion.
The next song is a longer one, but always as giantly played, it is called "Clavicula Nox" or translating, The Key of the Night, on pair with Siren of The Woods another peaceful song, and how powerful night seems, I will share a video from Jonny a Magnis Maxima youtbe channel he has a lot of Therion songs with amazing videos to them, check them out
the last song I'm showing you from this album is called "Raven of Dispersion", it's one of those songs as being the one before the last, the song talks about a cry of help to a Raven. Another video from the same channel, once again the choir with a great female voice over makes the greatness of the song

Therion - Theli (1996)
This week we go back one year, and will embrace Theli, the album that is considered by most of the fans as the best Therion album side by side with the album from the next week, Starts the era of Operatic Therion, the amazing melodies all Therion fans recognize. Some people call it Gothic metal, others symphonic, I think their quality is too much to put such a band in a stagnant category.
There are three songs I want to share with you, the first one can be mentioned as the band's song, explains a bit the name of the band and is called To Mega Therion it never fails to be played live
The second song I'm showing you is Cults of The Shadows, musically I prefer this one over To Mega Therion, but both are amazing, this one is a bit more melodic there my preference.
The last one is one of my all time favourite of Therion, when listen to this song, disconnect yourself form the world around and lets the sound submerge you in a peaceful melody, I know the lyrics are not so peaceful for what I've been reading. But we don't understand the lyrics so I only enjoy embracing the sound. Sometimes when the noise in a Bus, Subway or Train is too much, this song cancels all that.

Os Quatro E Meia - Pontos Nos Is (2017)
Those who follow my blog know that sometimes I like to bring some different stuff, cause not only hard rock and metal can have progressive elements. I bring you what we can call a fusion between rock and traditional sound. Most of you will not understand what is these songs about but they are upbeat and cheerful or other times more to the heart. I love it and decided to share with you.
The first song more festive is called Baile de São Simã, about a ball where a guy wants to be with a girl nothing of much
The second song is my favourite form what I heard, called "Um Sim para Regressar", this can be seen in two different perspectives. One a boy who made something less honorable to a girl and repents it and ask for forgiveness, or can also be seen by the eyes of an emigrant, one who was forced to leave his country to fight for his life and now is back cause can't be more time away from his beloved country and culture. See what you think it is. This one has a really nice progression, starts slowly and becomes more rythmic at the end.
Soon I will comeback to more hard sounds, for now as the end of summer is comming lets enjoy

Paradise Lost - Collection of songs from former(Draconian times to Tragic idol) and new albums(Medusa 2017)
Last week hearing some videos on youtube, I stumbled across lots of videos from Paradise Lost, I always knew Paradise Lost album as well as the next one, In Requiem, but all the other albums I didn't knew so well.
From 1995's Album Draconian Times, Forever Failure I am not so much fan of this harsher style but It fits in this song really well
One of the first songs that made me stay tuned once again to Paradise Lost is Say Just Words from the Album "One Second" from 1997, vocally harsher and more symphonic than the album I posted last week.
From 2001's "Believe in Nothing", I'm showing you Mouth
From 2007's In Requiem the song I hear the most is The Enemy, I think it was the first song I ever knew from them.
Also the songs Last Regret and Faith Divide us Death Unites, from 2009's album Faith Divide us Death Unites, also made me stay a little while around Paradise Lost, despite I had already known of the last song which talks about abuse either physic the most visible one but also the psychological one.
From 2012's "Tragic idol", two songs Are repeatedly playing in my mp3, Honesty in Death and Fear of Impending Hell
Finally I will show you from next September's Album "Medusa" the song The Longest Winter.
Tomorrow is me who has his Birthday but I am the one giving a present to you. Cheers

Steven Wilson - To The Bone(2017) - New Outstanding Song revealed
I Can't let it pass unnoticed so i'm posting at Wednesday once again...
recently Steven Wilson revealed a 4th song from the album and I must say
to you, it is a masterpiece, the progressive tone all in it, it made me
remember the vibe of Don't hate me which is my favourite Porcupine Tree
song, with no more words worth to be said to say how much I enjoy this
one, here it is the new revealed song: Refuge

Paradise Lost - Paradise Lost (2005)
Today I bring you my favourite Paradise Lost album, the one with same name as the band, Paradise Lost from 2005, What I love the most in this album is the melody in it, I would say is the softest album from Paradise Lost, but not the worst because of that, if there is an album with touches of Progressive is this one.
The first song I'm showing you is the first one of the album
Don't Belong, it was one of the songs that I heard for a long time before diving more into it, It starts slow and increases pace in chorus. And the lyrics fit so well in a former time. The musicality in this one is superb
The second song of the album is Close Your Eyes, is not so intense as the first one but is also in my opinion an amazing one more in a constant pace. "All Born the same"
The third song of the album is a masterpiece on it's own, the transitions, the lyrics, everything fits, it's called Grey another more soft song, but if you have a taste similar to mine you will like it.
The 4th song is called RedShift, it didn't interested me for a long time, but with years passing I learned that some musics need time to dive in our soul, and this is one of those.
The 5th song is another one that took me some time, but now I love it, Forever After, the lyrics make such sense now, and it's stronger without being harsh one of my new favourites.
The 6th song, mainly for those not so much into metal but more into rock, Sun Fading has some heaviness without being too noticed, but musically is superbly well done

Behind, we end this post with something heavier, one of the heaviest
ones until here.
Next week I'll post a kind of my personal best of from them, stay tuned.

Threshold - Legends Of The Shires (2017)
If You have been paying attention, You may know that Damian Wilson is no longer threshold's Vocalist, in a way I understand, if it's true that Damian has an amazing voice, the vocal range is not so big, Threshold were stuck in a sonority in the two albums with him, With the re-entrance of Glynn Morgan, they can approach new sonorities due to the more powerful voice Glynn has. The song already revealed made satisfied in a simple song we see more innovation than in the last 5 years, don't get me wrong I love March of Progress and For The Journey but in these albums I missed something else to go with the amazing regular prog, missed something powerful that Glynn or Andrew McDermott use to give us.
In this song Lost In Translation is noticeable a more powerful song, yet keeping the melody and the match with Glynn's voice, However some parts of the verses are yet constructed around Damian's voice and that is noticeable, if you hear you will notice what I'm saying. Nonetheless I really enjoyed this new song and I'm waiting for the new album.
I will post something more of this new album once it's released.

[Reflection]Is Pop-Rock in extinction?
Greeting,s today Space for a quick reflection, it may seem worthless but is interesting to think about it because a change in the dirrection of the musical compass needle may affect other genres aswell.
One of this days, I saw myself hearing bands like Sugar Ray, Fastball or Semisonic, this three bands all in the genre known as Pop-rock, a rock totally embraced by the mainstream scene. From the 60's to 90's we had a lot of new bands emerging inside the variety that is the rock from rock and roll, to progressive rock, to alternative rock, and We could find them very soon, in their first/second album, mainly during the 90's several bands appeared in rock, and were easily projected to fame, most of them already in their first album. The radios, the TVs, and even the platforms of the time passed much more of this new bands other than just the current ones. In 90's (specially the late 90's) we started to have a mix between rock and the other subgenres in music that wanted to dominate.
Nowadays it has changed, mainly since 2000 slowly the Popular media and platforms slowly change the needle of what was worth to promote from Rock to more electronic, R&B and Hip-hop sonorities. It was inevitable that one day it would change, and with it found new bands in rock is much harder than before. We always have the old school bands, but here and then we need something new.
The rock bands are still there, and doing what they always did, some are inovating, but now for you to find the generality of them before their third album is much harder, cause you have to know where to look specifically.
I can give my exampl,e I find easier to find new metal(in general) and progressive sound rock bands than any other subgenre in rock. And the ones that typical media promote, doesn't have the same factors the rock from the late 20th century had.
In a way all the bands who happen to break from the new web, are more likely to remain. When in the time where rock and roll and pop-rock was a comercial, mainstream thing, lots of new bands appeared, but none of them remained, or I would guess around 10% of the new bands appearing in the media remained.
I had this in mind a time ago, sometimes It is good for things to change, to increase the musical value of what is no longer the most profitable area.

Leprous - Malina(2017)
Today I bring you the new album of that amazing band that are the Leprous, even with a change in their formation(their guitarist departed and was subtituted) even so they will release in August 25th their next album Malina, there we can find this song
I enjoyed it, it clearly detaches from The Congregation(2015) which was aamzing, but no one likes to hear the same sonority in two sucessive albums, nevertheless this new sound made me remembere here and there the sonority of Bilateral which I learned to appreciate. Once something more is released I will share it with you.

Welcome once again here to this point in the internet. Well today I bring you something, which I stumbled upon by accident, I was checking my daily updates of my subscribed channels on youtube and happen to hear this masterpiece, more from the black metal but I love the cadence, the rythm just intrumental without the vocals that so often spoil the genre. Enjoy

Pyramaze - Contingent(2017)
As I said on last week, another band releasing a new album is Pyramaze, Contingent was released last 28th April to. Two songs were revealed already if it is needed later this year I will make an update with sings I like I didn't post here today.
The first song 20 Second Century is not one of my favourite Pyramaze songs of all time, something is missing for me, when compared to the last 3 albums even being each of them with different vocals(being the last one still the same on this record), I leave however this here so maybe you enjoy it.
Now the second song revealed I really really enjoy it, its called Kingdom Of Solace it has a lot of power and energy and made me want to hear again and again. Listen here:
the third one revealed joins an interesting video with an amazing song, where Jonah Weingarten keyboard is a noted presence. I'm waiting for a enormous album
Cheers and see you soon.

Blasted Mechanism - Avatara(2005)
Today I was hearing some songs, and thought to myself. Why did I never post on my blog about Blasted Mechanism, not being progressive have several songs with touches of it. And they were one of my own country obsessions for a long time. Blasted Mechanism, are a Portuguese band, which took a violent turn in 2008 with the departure of Karkow(the vocals)
Well but I'm here to talk to you about the album from 2005 Avatara. This album at the time was not so well received even by me, but it's the kind of album which grows with every audition, and even if you pass a time without hearing it, sooner or later you will want to hear it again.
The first Song which has an official video is called Blasted Empire feat Dj Nelassasin it features the band with a known Dj from here, the song full of rhythm and catchy lyrics are a wonderful start-up for this post.
The second song has also a official video-clip and is called Sun Goes Down, more melodic but also with rhythm, has some nuances pretty interesting
The third one I will talk is the 4th song of the album, was the first I was really addicted to when I first started hearing this album more properly. With a speed pace and with a power vibe all over it, I love this one. It's almost a manipulation of mind to dance if it makes sense.
Next is a song I came upon recently in terms of acknowledgement, which is called Enolough, it's one of the songs I think is more complete on the album speed and power at some points, dynamic and then some more quiet ones, the progressive touch I talked about earlier.
The last one is my favourite, is Take That Shot, I really enjoy it, first the initial beat sets the mood for all the song, then a pretty rhythmic and melodic sound followed by revolt lyrics which make you think like:
Maybe I will do a new post about other Blasted albums, maybe a best of or divided for Namaste(2003) and Sound in light/Light in sound(2007) lets wait and see.

I'll take that shot
I'll take that shot
You keep reminding me
Not to get the taste of it
Not to chew the best of it
Not to inhale it
Put it all together
And mix it with the artifact
And set your devil's loose

Anathema - Best Of(kind of)
Writting my last post, last week, I ralize I never posted anything about Anathema... Shame on me, my bad.
So Here I am to undo the msitake(as possible), contrary to what I usually do, I'm not deviding it by album, cause i don't know the albums so well as I would like so, I am showing you some of my favourite songs
Starting with the one which brought me to Anathema, One Last Goodbye, this song brings me tears is so emotionally well done. This song is from Judgement
Another song from Judgement I also enjoy is, Don't Look too far
Also showing you a song from their last released album, before the Optimist, called Distant Satellites, this is both the name of the song and the name of the album where this song appears.
A lot more I could be showing you, but What I will do now is showing you a live record, called Sort of Homecoming that is simply amazing, check it out to

Anathema - The Optimist(2017)
Greetings... Last week I had no time to come here, and didn't plan it on time as I should.
But in the upside I found some pretty nice things. one of them, a song from the new Anathema album called " the Optimist" what is a progressive metal/rock blog without talking about Anathema? they are back in with full power, with a touch of Alcest atmosphere, and they happen to have a tour together which sadly, doesn't pass in Portugal as normal.
The song Springfield is one of my favourite songs from Anathema so far, and they have a lot of amazing songs. check it out

Altan Urag - Made in Altan Urag(2006)
Greetings, There will probably be second Altan Urag post in the future, I found this amazing group and amazes me how so few people know about them, sadly i'm in the process of knowing them, but I still want to share them with you, they are called Altan Urag and are from Mongolia, typical sounds from there you might find here in their sound. Enjoy the song Requiem. Has a brilliant post touch on it.
The first part in mongol tranlsates by:
- grandpa i want to tell you a story.
- Oh what kind of story my son?
- A story with no happy ending.
- I am currently in that nightmarish story

Earthside - A Dream In Static(2015)
Today I bring you something new I found last year, but only now could hear properly. Earthside. This USA band has some of the nicest things a progressive sound nowadays must have.
The first song I'm showing you is Mob Mentality feat. Lajon Witherspoon & MSSO(Moscow Studio Symphony Orchestra). The voice of Lajon from Sevendust is simply amazing, the cadence of his voice, with the nuances of the Ochestra are amazing
The second song i'm sharing with you is the homonymous song of the album A dream in Static feat Daniel Tompkins(Ex-TesseracT)

If I stayed young
And the picture turned old
For That I would give everything
The last song I'm showing you is Down Where I am, here another amazing lyrics, like
I fear my heart and fear my soul
And all the things that are unknown
There's a chance things will turn wrong my friend
Far too fast I'm losing ground
Well let's face it here it now
You're not welcome you should know
I fear my heart and fear my soul
Life goes on it surely will
Without me I wonder
Will I ever see light again?
Will I ever see light again?
Life goes on
I hope you enjoy all the album it is really worth it.
